Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend is welcoming Louis-Fabrice Latour, CEO of Maison Louis-Latour, to Charlotte for an exclusive, Grand Tasting Event of 18 Premier Cru and Grand Cru Classé wines, including a special preview of the 2013 vintage and older bottlings to illustrate how beautifully these wines develop in the cellar. Some of these wines are yet to be released to the public and all are direct from their caves in France. Following the guided tasting with Louis-Fabrice Latour, a sparkling reception and dinner will be held featuring six additional wines from Domaines Louis-Latour and their property in Chablis, Simonnet-Febvre.  Altogether, if you attend the tasting and the dinner, you will have the opportunity to taste 24 different wines!!

The spectrum of wines for this event is huge. The guided tasting features seven specially released wines from the 2013 vintage, including three whites, and four reds. Of the 18 total wines, 10 are Premier Cru and eight are Grand Cru with vintages dating back to 2005!  The pre-dinner reception features a highly coveted vintage sparkling release from Simonnet~Febvre that is only produced in the finest vintages and spends three years on the lees before disgorgement. The dinner features a five-course meal with two additional Premier Cru, and one additional Grand Cru selection, plus 2 other unforgettable bottlings. All wines from the event can be purchased at very special prices to further benefit the children’s charities that Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend supports.

Louis Latour is the largest Grand Cru land owner in all of Burgundy, and one of the most highly respected producers in the world. The wines, alone, will make the event incredible, but even more so will be the opportunity to learn from and listen to the dynamic Louis-Fabrice Latour himself. He is the 7th Louis and the 11th generation of Latours to direct this family owned and operated company, and he is heavily involved in preserving the integrity of the Burgundy region for generations to come; a vision that seemed to come to fruition this year when the Cote d’Or was made a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Throughout the tasting, Louis-Fabrice will discuss his family's 200-year history, their admittance in 1997 to the exclusive Henokiens Club, good business decisions made by his ancestors, the importance of strong relationships with growers, the ground-breaking research on heirloom clones of pinot noir they’ve recently conducted, what the future holds for the company, and his vision for sustainability for the region. You don’t want to miss the chance to taste some of the finest white and red Burgundies in the world with the Master Latour himself.

Seating for the tasting is extremely limited and will fill up fast. We are offering two different evening experiences, both for the benefit of our charities. Enjoy both the exclusive guided tasting and dinner for $400, or, join us for dinner only for $250. Two live auctions will be held featuring rare and collectible large format wines from Louis-Latour, art, trips, an exclusive Burgundy experience, and, of course, MORE wine! Proceeds from this event will benefit the five children's charities Charlotte Wine & Food supports.

The Fall tasting event and dinner will be held at LaCa Projects, a gallery just outside Uptown Charlotte. LaCa Projects is a unique concept and physical space that is dedicated to Latin American art and culture and features only a small group of artists at a time. Since its inception in March 2013, LaCa Projects has featured more than a dozen artists in its exhibitions, ranging from emerging to established and Master level. The space also boasts recently-opened artist studios, where Latin American artists work through a hybrid studio/residency program. The only gallery of its kind in the Southeast, LaCa Projects maintains a no-profit motive and is also dedicated to helping CWFW in our mission to nourish the children of Charlotte.
